Hyundai and Kia have agreed to a $62.1 million settlement to resolve claims that certain vehicles were sold with defective airbag control units (ACUs) that may have failed during collisions. The issue stems from ZF-TRW-manufactured ACUs, which allegedly malfunctioned, preventing airbags from deploying properly in crashes.
Although Hyundai and Kia deny any wrongdoing, the settlement provides compensation and extended protections to eligible vehicle owners.
